My Winter Skincare Must Haves

The cold winter weather plays havoc with my skin and I’m sure I’m not the only one who has the same problem.

One of the biggest problems for my skin in winter isn’t necessarily the cold weather. Usually it is the change from being outside in the cold and then going into a warm room. The constant change in temperature disrupts your body causing it to keep changing its own internal temperature and thus drying out the skin.

The first step in my skincare routine, morning and night, is always cleansing. Without this step there is no point in all the fancy creams and serums. Cleansing is so important to remove the dead skin cells and bacteria from the top layer of skin.

When taking my makeup off, the Liz Earle Cleanse & Polish is my new go-to cleanser. It feels so creamy and luxurious on my skin and is great at getting rid of stubborn makeup. Enriched with cocoa butter, rosemary, chamomile and eucalyptus it helps to soften, smooth and moisturise skin whilst battling the makeup, dirt and grime that builds over the day.

For my second cleanse I use the BRYT Cleanse which is a natural foaming cleanser. I’m a long time fan of BRYT and this feels so refreshing and clean on the skin. It uses apple extracts for the foam meaning there is no harsh sulphates stripping away the skin. It comes with a handy muslin mitt which I use to exfoliate with and remove dead skin cells twice a week.

I always apply a serum after cleansing, before applying moisturiser. Serums contain concentrated ingredients which can penetrate deeper into the skin for better results. My favourite is the BRYT Nourish serum which contains hyaluronic acid. Hyaluronic acid intensely hydrates skin on a cellular level, by retaining moisture in the cells. It also contains Palmitic, Oleic and Linoleic Acids which draw in the moisture, leaving skin intensely hydrated.

My last step is always to moisturise. At the moment I’m using the Image Vital C Hydrating Repair Cremé as my day time moisturiser. This contains vitamins A, C and E to nourish, repair and protect the skin. I find this really silky and hydrating on the skin. My only issue with it is that it comes in a tub as opposed to a tube or bottle with a pump. To buy Image skincare you need to visit your local Image stockist or get an online consultation to make sure you are using the right products for your skin type.

At night, my go to moisturiser is the BRYT Night cream. I have quite sensitive and dry skin so this is just amazing. It contains antioxidants and shea butter along with African Marula Oil which help to calm and heal the skin whilst your sleeping, and reduce redness. One of the things I love about this night cream is that it sinks into the skin and doesn’t feel sticky or heavy, so my face isn’t sticking to the pillow! BRYT is also completely vegan and cruelty free which is a big plus from me!
