Things Are Changing

Megan Kessie

I’m back! Some of you may have noticed I disappeared for a while and honestly it felt great to take a break. I know most people will be like hang on you left, we didn’t notice!

If you’ve been following for a few years you know I normally do blogmas throughout December. About 5 days in to blogmas 2018 I had to take a step back and decided to just stop. One thing I never want this blog to be is just a place where content is churned out. I blog completely as a hobby and because it’s something I enjoy. And last December, I was not enjoying it. I felt everything I was writing I’d seen before and I wasn’t adding any value or was just regurgitating opinions already shared online.

Over the past two months I’ve been really thinking about what way I want my blog to go and what I want it to be. There is so much focus now on Instagram and how many followers you have an that is just not me. I don’t have thousands of followers and don’t have a perfectly curated theme. I genuinely don’t know where people get the time to get all the fab pictures!

Last week I actually took Make It Up Megan offline for a few days to consider if that was what I wanted. After taking some time I’ve realised I want to get back to why I started blogging and not focus so much on what everyone else is doing. At the same time I realise I’m not the same person I was when I started blogging. I’ve changed over the years and grown so much. Now it’s time for the blog to grow a little with me.

I love writing and sharing my opinions, and if a few of you read them then that’s great. At the end of the day I do this for me. I’m not going to stress if I don’t have a new post up every week or can’t put a new pic on Instagram every day.

Blog change

I started a new job at the end of 2018 and it has really helped me look differently at things. I’m busy in work and loving it. So why would I put myself under pressure to create more content when I come home – just for the sake of having a blog post live. Things are going to take a small change over the next few months.

I love talking about makeup and beauty so much, but am in no way a MUA. I’m still going to give my opinions and thoughts but perfectly airbrushed makeup pictures will not be found here! This blog will be what I’m trying, what I love (and hate), clothes for girls larger than a size 6 and some travel and life bits thrown in the mix.

I am also doing the odd random video on my YouTube so if you’d like to see what I got for Christmas you can watch below.

I hope if you’ve been following along that you’ll stick around and if not, it was nice having you for a while 🙂

Keep an eye out for my latest post coming this week all about what I’ve been spending my money on recently and what I have on my wishlist (I’m still a shopaholic after all)!
