It’s getting so close to Christmas day so I thought for today’s blogmas post I would answer a Christmas Tag to give you all a bit more of an insight into how I spend the festive season.
Do you open your presents on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day
It really depends on the year. For the past three years in a row James and I have both worked Christmas Day or at least one of us has so we have had to plan Christmas gift giving around that. This year I am off but James will be working Christmas Eve and Christmas Day so I’m still not sure when we will get to exchange gifts.
Do you dress up for Christmas or stay in pyjamas?
I always dress up every year. My parents always have people over on Christmas morning for Champagne and canap?s so we were never let stay in our pyjamas with guests visiting. It has become such a tradition for me now that I couldnt imagine staying in pyjamas all day.
Favourite festive food and drink?
James and I love picking up a Starbucks hot chocolate with their limited edition Christmas sandwich every year doing our shopping, it is one of our favourite things to do and is definitely turning into a tradition for us. I also love having cranberry sauce and stuffing with a roast dinner at this time of year!
What is your favourite Christmas movie?
It has to be Love Actually, I’d watch this movie over and over again all year round. I’ve done a post on my top 10 Christmas movies so make sure you check it out!
What is the best Christmas present you ever received?
When I was about two or three years old Santa brought me the most amazing toy kitchen I have ever seen. It was one of my favourite toys for years and I still can’t face throwing it out! It is in my parents attic for the foreseeable future!
Favourite Christmas scent?
Definitely Yankee Candle’s Christmas Eve candle. It just smells so amazing and I love coming home to my house fully decorated and the scent of this burning in the background. I am a bit candle mad so you can check out the other scents I love at this time of year here.
Do you have any Christmas Eve traditions?
Yes definitely. I nearly prefer Christmas Eve to Christmas Day, there’s just something about the anticipation of it all. I love to have a chilled out day with family and then relax watching a Christmas movie that evening. I will be doing a separate post about how I spend my Christmas eve so keep an eye out this weekend for it!
What tops your tree?
A star. There was a lot of deliberation when James and I bought our first tree as I had always had an angel on top of the tree but his family had a star. We ended up choosing a star as we haven’t found an angel topper that we like.
What’s the best part about Christmas for you?
Spending time with family and friends. There is people I might not get to see all year but I’m guaranteed to get a catch up with them over Christmas.
Do you have an advent calendar?
I normally do but this year made a conscious decision not to get one, I didn’t need another excuse to eat chocolate every day. I would love to pick up a beauty advent calendar next year, I didn’t get a chance to get one this year.
Least favourite Christmas memory?
I got my appendix out a few years ago on Christmas Eve. I was lucky enough to be sent home that evening after the surgery so as not to miss Christmas but I spent my whole Christmas lying in bed or on the sofa so it wasn’t the best experience.
What do you eat for Christmas dinner?
Fish, roast potatoes, carrots, parsnips, sprouts, stuffing, cranberry sauce and gravy! I don’t eat meat so I always have a nice piece of fish on Christmas day and veg covered in gravy with cranberry sauce on the side. Followed by Christmas pudding of course.
Real or fake Christmas tree?
As a kid we always had a real tree but now I have a fake tree with James. As much as I would love to have a real tree every year, it is a big hassle to try get rid of it afterwards and I find they can be quite expensive to repurchase every year. I always get a real holly wreath for the door though.
Favourite Christmas advert?
The Kellogs ad with the little girl waiting for Santa to arrive with her siblings. It is so old and barely gets aired anymore but for me seeing this definitely signifies Christmas.
