Review | The Osprey Hotel & Spa

Does anyone else get to a stage in the year when you feel like you just need a little break? I always get like this around October and November. Summer holidays are long gone and I’m waiting for Christmas to arrive. To try give ourselves a new lease of life before the party season hits, James and I decided to book a little mini break for the October bank holiday.

Last year James won a free night stay in the Osprey Hotel so I got in touch with them to book and to get some spa treatments for myself and James. Also I’ve wanted to pop in to Kildare Village for ages so this was the perfect time to convince James stop in! It’s only 15 minutes away, making the Osprey a perfect location if you’re looking for a girls weekend away. What’s better than treating yourself in the luxury boutiques and then heading to the spa to chill for the rest of the day.

The Hotel

When we arrived at the hotel we were checked in to room 111 which was just up the staircase on the first floor. Honestly our room was so fab, it was perfect. It had a fairly big living area with a big bathroom and huge bed. You can see it all in the pictures below but if I could have taken that bath home with me I would have. This is definitely one of the best hotel rooms we’ve stayed in over the years and we were both seriously impressed.

The Osprey Spa

After we got settled in we went straight to the spa. Both of us have had a few fairly busy weeks in work and were desperate to relax. After checking in to the spa we were guided downstairs to one of the relaxation rooms. The Osprey Spa reopened this year after a €1.1 million refurbishment and you could really tell. The spa was huge, over 10,000 square feet and has everything you could want. I just wish we had more time to get a few more treatments.

We spent most of our time in the Thermal Suite before we went to go for our massages. The Thermal Suite has amazing heated relaxation beds, tropical rain showers, steam room, sauna and a salt grotto. James went straight to the sauna which is always his favourite. I can’t spend too much tie in the moist air but loved the salt grotto. The dry salt air is really good for health and inhaling the ions from salt can reduce inflammation and mucus in the lungs, improving respiratory conditions.

After chilling on the relaxation beds for a little while we were called to get our massages. I went for a Swedish Full Body massage and James got the Hot Stone Massage. To say I was relaxed after this is an understatement! My massage therapist was so good and could definitely feel all the tension in my body, especially my upper back. I didn’t want to leave after it was finished!

Dinner in Herald & Devoy

After feeling like I could sleep for a week, I had to get ready for dinner. We had a rain shower in our room and between feeling so relaxed after the massage and the heat of the shower I don’t know how I managed to leave the room.

After eventually getting ready we went to the hotel restaurant, Herald & Devoy, for dinner. I wasn’t really sure what to expect from the food. In my experience hotel restaurant can be a bit hit and miss. I can’t even describe though how good the food was! When it comes to where we stay, I’m pretty easy going, but when it comes to food I’m picky. I’m not ashamed to say if it’s not right I have no problem sending food back. The food in Herald & Devoy was amazing though. I should have stopped eating ¾ the way through dinner but I couldn’t stop!

For starters I ordered the Goats Cheese and Potato Pavé which was delicious and James had the Slow Cooked Pork Belly. I could have kept eating it all night but it was the perfect size starter. For our mains I got the Fillet of Trout and James got a steak. If you were watching my Instagram stories you will have seen we completely cleared our plates, the food was just so good we couldn’t stop eating.

When I seen they had lemon tart on the menu for dessert I was sold. This is one of my favourite desserts and it didn’t disappoint. The lemon curd in the tart was flavoured perfectly and went so well with the Italian meringue top. You can see in the pictures how good the food looked, I would 100% recommend eating here! I will definitely be coming back again next time I’m in Naas.

Time To Go Home

No hotel stay is complete without breakfast in the morning. The Osprey put on a big buffet style breakfast with everything you could want from fruit, pastries, cold meats and cheeses to a the makings of a full Irish breakfast. i went for my favourite and got beans on toast whilst James went for the whole shebang and filed his plate with all the hot breakfast options. I wanted to go back for more but really couldn’t fit any more food in me!

I know this whole post literally sounds like a paid ad which I swear it isn’t! We had such a great time in the Osprey Hotel and the Osprey Spa and I couldn’t say enough good things about it. If you’re looking for a quiet couples weekend away or a girlie spa weekend, definitely check the Osprey out. I don’t think I’d have a tough job convincing James to go back – he was definitely as impressed as me.

If you want to know anything else send me a message and to book just head over to their website. They also have good deals to book for a night stay including spa treatments which are definitely worth looking into. Christmas is just around the corner too and they have so many offers available for gifts!
