In Ireland there is a great blogging community and I love the support that everyone gives one another. There are many “blogging groups” on Facebook where everyone can chat, share their content and ask questions. This is where my blog was found to be nominated for the Liebster Award so I thought it only fitting to go to the same places to find blogs for me to nominate.
There are many different variations of this award if you were to google it but thankfully I was sent the “rules” by my nominee!
- Thank your nominator
- Share the award on your blog
- Answer 10 questions asked to you
- Ask 10 questions to 10 new nominees (who have less than 3000 followers)
- Notify them via social media
You may have seen pictures of her on my Instagram and Snapchat, I own my adorable little cat Belle. I love cats and my sister knows this so when she heard from a family friend that he had kittens who needed rescuing she passed the news on to me and I headed to Ashbourne to see the litter. This was back in September 2014 and Belle has been my spoiled little baby ever since!
2. Where is your favourite place in the world to be?
If there is anywhere I would travel to over and over again it would have to be Paris! I love being in France, my parents brought us religiously every year until we got old enough to go on holidays on our own. Paris is such a beautiful city, James and I went here on our first holiday together and have wanted to go back numerous time since. Hopefully when funds allow, we’ll get to go back many more times!
3. How did you choose the design and style of your blog?
Originally when I designed my blog I had it very monochrome but I thought it looked a little bland so I started playing around with colours. I added in the dusty pink to my original design and it just looked so much better and a lot more me. My blog is a reflection of myself, my style and personality.
4. How do you feel about paid promotions in blog posts?
There has been a lot of talk on this topic lately. Personally I think there is no problem with bloggers doing paid promotions as long as they are honest about it. If it is stated early in the blog or vlog that it is paid for then I see no issue. The blogging world is changing, many people are now doing this as their full time job. We should be celebrating that many people have been able to do what they love, and get paid for it too!
Honestly I think creating this blog is one of my biggest achievements! I have grown so much as a person in the last few years and this just tops it all off. I was a shy kid and sometimes the brunt of other peoples jokes. I had very little confidence in myself and was very self-conscious about how I looked. I actually tried to start a blog before but I deleted it as I still couldn’t bring myself to put my name to it. Starting Make It Up Megan marked a milestone for me, I am happy to put myself out there and write about what I love!
When I was younger I used to love writing stories, but I always deleted them straight after I finished writing them! At the moment the only writing I do is on this blog. Unless you count all the documentation I have to do in work…
When I was sixteen I thought I was in love with my boyfriend at the time. Looking back I know I was in love with the idea of him, but not him. For the last four and a half years I’ve been blessed to be going out with my boyfriend James. And I’m happy to say, I am in love!
I’m from a tiny little village in North Dublin, the Naul. It’s funny, nobody ever says they’re from Naul, it just doesn’t sound right, it has always been The Naul! I love the countryside and the peace and quiet that comes with it.
My very first blog was Hair Care for Dry Scalp. It was coming into the colder months when I wrote this so I thought it was a good time to share my tips! I’m still pretty happy with this post considering it was my first but I wish I had put a bit more effort into the pictures, because they really aren’t great.
Now that I’ve answered all my questions, it’s time to nominate 10 new bloggers! These are blogs that I have very recently become a follower of or discovered through blogging groups. So without further ado…
And the 10 questions I ask you are:
1. Why did you decide to start blogging about your particular niche? (beauty, travel etc.)
2. What is your favourite and/or most popular social media outlet?
3. Are you hoping to make money out of your blog some day?
4. Do you/ would you ever post negative reviews? – Do you think we should as bloggers or do you prefer to say nothing at all?
5. Describe yourself in 3 words!
6. What is your favourite thing about the area you live in?
7. Do you have a mantra to live by or do you wing it?
8. What was your dream job as a child compared to your dream job now?
9. What is your favourite way to chill out and relax?
10. When is your absolute favourite time of year and why?
To my nominees, answer these 10 questions in your own blog post and don’t forget to thank your nominator (me!) in your post. You can find me on Facebook, Twitter, Snapchat and Instagram! Remember to pass this on by nominating 10 more bloggers and asking them 10 questions. You can create your own questions or use the ones I’ve asked you! You can also add the Liebster Award badge to your profile if you wish 🙂
