My Holy Grail Foundation

Hello! I hope your having a lovely Saturday! I have decided to start a monthly series on the blog detailing my holy grail makeup items!

I think every woman, no matter how often they wear makeup, has their favourite products that they reach for over and over again.

I know I have some favourites that I will always go back to and repurchase immediately if they run out. Today Im starting of the series with my holy grail foundation.

My ultimate holy grail foundation is without a doubt the Revlon ColorStay Makeup With SoftFlex Normal/Dry Skin Colour: 150 Buff. This, for me, is just the perfect foundation and its the one I reach to over all the others I’ve tried. It just works if you know what I mean. It does exactly what I want and never gives me any trouble!

I’d say the coverage of this foundation would be medium but it is definitely buildable for a more full coverage look. If I’m only looking for a light covering I will mix a little bit of this with my moisturiser and then apply. I have mentioned before that I suffer with dry patches on my skin, this is why I go for this version of the Revlon Colourstay but if you are more oily/combination they do this foundation to suit your skin type too. I would like to point out that whilst the combination/oily version of this comes in an amazing 20 shades, the normal/dry version only comes in 12 which is a little disappointing.

I have been using this foundation for I’d say nearly three years now (not this exact bottle) so that just shows how much I love this product. I find with a lot of the foundations I have tried, they settle into dry patches that you never even knew you had! Whereas for me this just does the job perfectly. I know when I’m getting ready that I don’t need to worry about my base makeup as this just does the job. There is often times where I won’t even bother with concealer after applying this! It also contains SPF 20 which I think is pretty high for a foundation but perfect for keeping your skin safe throughout the day.

The formula of the Colourstay foundations is really lightweight. They don’t sit on your skin, they blend in seamlessly without feeling heavy on the face. They give a mattifying effect without being full on matte if that makes any sense. Your skin still has a glow and for me, if I’m only applying a light to medium layer, my freckles can still be seen, which I love!

The Revlon Colourstay claims to last for 24 hours and honestly I don’t know if this is true or not. I have never been in a situation that I need my foundation to last that long. I do know however that it lasts me a full day if I’m going in to work. I apply it at around half six in the morning and it is still there by eight or nine that night when I’m chilling out on the sofa. I always wear a primer, no matter what foundation I’m using so I can’t say what it is like without one. The only wear I ever experience with this will be around my mouth and chin area from eating and touching my face throughout the day but this happens to me regardless of the foundation. I normally just whip out a buffer brush and give it a quick blend.

Overall, I can’t see myself ever letting go of this foundation. My only gripe with it over the years has been the fact that the glass bottle comes without a pump. This however has been fixed and now both versions of the Revlon Colourstay come with a handy pump. I don’t have one as of yet but my bottle is running out so I’ll be picking up another in the next week or so.

If your still on the hunt for your perfect foundation. Definitely give this a go. It can be purchased from most pharmacies nationwide for ?17.79 and Boots often do 3 for 2 offers on Revlon products.
