My Goals For 2017

I want to start off by saying I hope you all had a great Christmas and New Year! This was my first time being off for both in four years so I really made the most of having time to spend with friends and family.

If you’ve been following me you may have noticed I decided to do blogmas this year. This came to a sudden stop about a week before Christmas when, like an eejit, I fell and tore the ligaments in my foot. I spent the weekend before Christmas in hospital getting X-rays and bandaged up, which followed with me being hopped up on painkillers ever since.

I had to make the decision to end blogmas as I couldn’t concentrate properly on writing and didn’t want to churn out content for the sake of it, that is not the way I do things on here.

At the start of 2016 I set myself some goals for my blog, I didn’t tell anyone as I didn’t want to put myself under that pressure if I didn’t achieve them.

I decided at the start of 2016 that I would (insert goals) and I’m pretty happy that I achieved most of them, even with a few hiccups.

Going into 2017 I’m sharing my 5 goals for Make It Up Megan with you all in the hope that you will help push me to achieve them and that it will give me the extra boost to reach them!

Improve my photography

I love going on to blogs and seeing amazing pictures of the product they’re talking about or the outfit they’re showing off. Whilst my photos aren’t terrible (I hope!) they could be a lot better.

I’ve signed myself up for a photography course and I’m hoping that with this along with my new camera, lights and photography book that I’ll be a pro, or close enough, by the end of the year!

Start a YouTube channel

This has long been a goal of mine and one that I didn’t get to do in 2016. Part of my reason for that was that I still didn’t feel comfortable enough to put myself in front of the camera. I also didn’t have the equipment I wanted and I decided if I was going to start filming myself I want to do it as best I can.

I saved up last year and bought myself a new camera for my videos and for Christmas my parents bought me my box lights so I’ve no excuses now!

Beauty Reviews

I love trying new products and reviewing them, but looking back I didn’t do as many reviews as I could have over the year.

This year I’m making a conscious effort to review a lot more makeup, skincare and hair products, be it good or bad!

Makeup tutorials

This ties in with starting a YouTube channel and is definitely something I’ve wanted to start doing. I’m not a makeup artist but I’ve picked up a lot of tips and tricks over the years and I’m hoping to start sharing these through videos a lot more in 2017.

Post twice a week

This was a goal of mine for 2016 and whilst most of the time I did achieve it, there was a few bumps in the road. I was very unprepared for a lot of things last year which led to the blog being neglected at certain times as I had not got around to writing content.

Whilst January is going to be somewhat crazy for me in my work and personal life I’m aiming from February onwards to really keep on top of things. I’ll have a few new posts this month but it will really be from next month that you can expect regular content.

25 Days of Blogmas

I gave this a go for 2016 but had to cut it short as I had no content pre-prepared. I only decided on the last day of November that I would do blogmas and put myself under a lot of pressure to get posts out!

I loved having Christmas themed content everyday, while it lasted, so will definitely be giving this a proper go for December 2017.

I’d love to hear how your 2016 was and if you’ve set yourself any goals for 2017! Let me know in the comments or on Instagram, Facebook or Twitter.

Thanks for reading!
