So we’re currently heading into our fourth month in lockdown in Ireland, and I think it’s safe to say we’re all pretty fed up at this stage. I know I am! I’m in need of a good distraction from the monotony of current day to day life so here I am back writing the blog after almost 8 months of neglect!
My “beauty routine” has definitely changed a lot over the past 12 months. It’s rare you’ll see me with a full face of makeup and my hair colour is more natural than highlights at this stage.
There has been a few stand out products though that have become constant in my lockdown beauty routine so I thought they’d be worth mentioning.
I switched up my skincare routine around Christmas last year to try give my skin the new lease of life it needed. Along with some targeted skincare options from The Inkey List, I started using the Embryolisse Lait Creme Concentre. This is hailed as a cult product worldwide and is a multi-use moisturiser. It’s a heavy moisturiser so a little goes a long way but it really feels like it’s done wonders for my skin. My dry patches are finally under control and my skin feels healthy and smooth for the most part. This is also brilliant as a primer under makeup and give a great hydration boost before applying foundation.
My tan routine has been very hit and miss over the past few months. Some weeks I want to be completely bronzed, other weeks I resemble Casper the ghost. Gentle Bronze has slowly become my go-to product for a healthy medium glow, without being full on bronzed. It really helps give the skin a healthy look and makes me feel a little more alive when I cop a glance in the mirror! I also love the Cocoa Brown Perfect Fade Tanning Oil for a slightly deeper tan. It’s a really great oil based tan which gives the skin some love too.
Ok so these have only launched in the last few weeks but they’re already becoming a firm favourite. I remember talking to Laura in work well over a year ago saying how much I wish someone would bring out a concentrated tan that could be mixed with your own moisturiser, and finally Dripping Gold are the ones to have done it! I’ve been mixing a couple of drops of with my moisturiser to give my skin a gorgeous glow.
So I’ve normally always been a plain polish kind of girl when it comes to my nails. Last year I decided I wanted to start making them look a bit better, and with salons closed I turned to wearing false nails. I’ve lost count of the amount of compliments I get every time I have any of the SOSU nails on. I can’t see myself ever switching away from them. I normally get about 2 weeks wear out of mine as I file them to fit my nail bed perfectly. Because I file the nails before application, I can get 2 applications from 1 box of nails which is pretty decent. There’s so many different styles of these but my favourites are normally the short length or the medium ballerina. If there’s a design I like in the long nail style I normally just file the nail down to a more wearable medium length.
There’s still a few other products worth mentioning but I’ll leave it here with these four for today. If you’ve tried any of these or have any great finds of your own from your lockdown beauty routine, let me know in the comments!
