I started this blog to talk beauty,fashion, hair and makeup, but we all need to look after ourselves on the inside too. Ive decided to tell you all three things I do to de-stress, something we all need every once in a while!
The past month was extremely hectic and stressful for me. I work full time and also volunteer for a charity group so between the two I’ve been very busy. On top of all that I moved house at the start of the month! Whilst this was very exciting it also comes with stresses of its own.
Because of all this I had no choice but to take a step away from blogging for the month. I literally have had no time to spare!
The good news is I’m back and am really going to put a lot more attention on my blogging. I decided to write this post as we can all get bogged down with work and personal commitments and sometimes forget to just sit back and relax. This is definitely true for me anyway.
So here are some of the things I do to try relax…
1. Play Dress Up
It sounds so silly but I love getting all dolled up! After a long week I like nothing more than doing my hair and makeup and putting on a nice outfit. I wear a uniform all day in work and it can be easy to fall into the pattern of slouching around all day. I always feel so much better when I put a bit of effort into my appearance. For me, if I look good on the outside, I feel it on the inside!
2. Reading a Book
My mum always took my sister and I to the library every week when we were younger. She loved reading and passed that love on to both of us. It can be so relaxing to delve into a book and forget about all the things going on in your life. Wether it’s Harry Potter or a cheesy romance, I get sucked in every time!
Anyone that knows me will tell you, I have no problem talking. I never shut up.. However I don’t alway say what I’m feeling. Sometimes I find I go on and on about an irrelevant topic instead of being straight out about what I’m feeling. I let myself get very stressed out this month and the relief I felt when I turned to my close friends and colleagues to tell them what was going on was unbelievable. It felt like a weight had been lifted. Sometimes it’s better to get everything out in the open instead of hiding away from things. You’ll find that when you speak out loud the things that are bothering you don’t seem as ginormous as they were in your head!
I think it’s safe to say that we all need to take a step back sometimes and just relax. Enjoy the experiences your going through and share them with the people around you.
