It’s official, I’m back!
As I mentioned in my 2017 goals post, I was continuing my blogging break until the end of January. I had an extremely busy January and had very little time for blogging. Part of the reason for this was I spent the month prepping for The Gossies 2017.
Helping the Goss team plan the Gossies was such an amazing experience for me and is definitely something I will take forward with me in future jobs.
With so many amazing and gorgeous people attending the awards, I knew I needed to step up my game when it came to hair, makeup and that all important dress!
Here are some of my steps to creating the vintage glam look I went for on the night…
My hair has been in a desperate condition for the past few months and was in dire need of some TLC. The last time I had my hair done was in May of 2016 so it definitely needed a visit to the hairdresser.
The lovely team in The Hair Caf? invited me in to get my locks updated before the awards. Whilst I love getting my hair done it’s something I always put on the long-finger. I love being blonde but my roots grow so fast that I find the upkeep impossible. Last year I decided to change it up and have since fallen in love with the balyage/tiger hair trend.
What I love about this look is if I miss a trip (or four) to the hairdresser, my hair still looks ok once it’s styled. It’s a lot easier to manage and you can’t even tell that my roots have grown out.
I was really impressed with Steve in The Hair Caf?, my hair needed a lot of attention to remove the orange tones which had developed from not getting my colour topped up regularly. The difference between my before and after is amazing and my hair feels so much healthier now with an updated colour and a much needed trim!
For the day of the awards I needed to get my hair done quite early so I could get over to the hotel and help with the preparations. I made my way into Zeba on South William Street to have my hair done by their amazing stylist, David.
I have to say David was amazing. After showing him some of the updo styles I like, he set about transforming my hair. David was so friendly and easy to talk to, and a master when it comes to styling.
I was so impressed with my updo and loved how it perfectly complemented my look.
When it comes to tan, I know I can apply it perfectly myself so I never book a spray tan anywhere. My go-to tan is 100% the Bellamianta Rapid Mousse.
Applied using the super soft Bellamianta tanning mitt, this applies so easily and streak free. I know that I can put this on minutes before I need to leave the house and it will be perfect.
I applied a heavy layer of tan the night before the Gossies and rinsed it the next morning before I left the house. My tan looked absolutely perfect, if I do say so myself! I have a drawer full of different tans but I have to say, Bellamianta has never let me down and I loved the olive-toned glow I had for the awards.
The lovely team from MRS Makeup came in on the day of the Gossies to do the glam for some of the guest presenters and Goss Girls. I was delighted to be able to get my makeup done by such an amazing team.
I knew I would be doing a lot of running around so I went for full glam and very heavy makeup. My eyes were a gorgeous blend of browns and oranges which really made the blue in my eyes pop!
A light dusting of blush, heavy eyeliner and bold red lips courtesy of my beloved Kylie Cosmetics liquid lipstick in the shade Merry completed the look.
Nails are something I always neglect and am never really bothered with. I knew for the Gossies I needed to up my game and put in a little bit of effort!
My auntie Ava is a nail technician so there was no-one else I could trust to do a better job. With no idea what I really wanted, we sat down together and looked through the different options of shape, style, colour and so on. I knew I would be doing a red lip so we decided to go for a red nail to tie my whole look together.
I couldn’t be happier with how my nails turned out and have had so many complements on them.
The dress I wore to the Gossies was a huge change for me. I got this gorgeous navy-blue lace detail gown from Starla dresses. The December/January diet definitely paid off and I felt amazing wearing.
I had never worn a backless dress before, I find going braless very scary. But putting this dress on felt like a princess which is exactly what I wanted for such a glam night.
I paired the gown with very simple jewellery which I picked up in Next. I chose some gorgeous Sapphire stone earrings with diamant? surround along with a ring and necklace to match.
I had such an amazing night at The Gossies 2017 and wish I could go back and re-live it all over again. Everyone at the awards looked stunning and it was so nice to get to go full glam for a night.
