So the month of April is over an I’m another year older… I can finally sing Taylor Swift’s ’22’ and mean it! It also means its time for me to gather together all the products I’ve been loving and I think it has been a good month. I had a week off for my Birthday so I got to try out some of my newer bits and I also got a few bits for my birthday which I’ve been loving.
I’ve thrown a few random things into this months favourites so I’ll start off with my beauty favourites and go from there!
Cailyn BB Fluid Touch Compact
I was going to include this in my March favourites but I wanted to try it out for a little longer and honestly, I love it even more now than when I first bought it. I had high hopes for this foundation when I first bought it as it has been raved about by many Irish beauty bloggers. When BB creams first hit the market in 2012 I was not impressed as they seemed to be nothing more than a tinted moisturiser… This foundation is so much more than that! It moisturises, conceals, brightens, corrects and covers my skin perfectly. This makes my skin look like a better version of itself as opposed to just sitting heavily on it. As there is Vitamin E in the formula it provides hydration to help give me the radiant look I crave. I also love the packaging of this product, it is a sleek black compact and you just pump the button for product which stops me from using too much. Cailyn are currently rolling out in pharmacies across Ireland and can also be purchased online.
Cocoa Brown Instant Tan Bronzing Gel
I think its fair to say Cocoa Brown is definitely one of the leaders in the tanning market so this is another product I had high hopes for! I tend not to go for instant tanning products, I’m afraid of getting caught in the rain and ending up looking like I’m melting. Silly I know but it put me off trying this. Whilst I had my week off the weather was good so I figured I’d give this a go. This applied so easily and gave instant colour, as promised. It was very easy to get a streak free finish by using the double sided tanning mitt. Overall I was very impressed by this tan, it applied evenly and gave a gorgeous bronzed glow. I’m looking forward to using this for instant bronzing during the summer. The only issue I have with this is that does transfer, I wore a white tee the day I tried this and there was a lot of transfer left on the inside when I took it off (but it did wash out very easily). This bronzing gel is available in Penneys and all good pharmacies and is also available in a shimmer version.
MAC Single Eyeshadows
I have been reaching for my MAC palette so much over the last few weeks. I think out of my whole eyeshadow collection this is definitely one of my most used palettes. I love this so much as it is completely customisable and I use every shade in it. I have a mixture of warm and cool toned browns, orange shades and some greys and blues thrown in there too. I find the MAC shadows so easy to work with and super blendable. There is such a huge range out there, I want them all! They’re also affordable enough if you buy the eyeshadow on its own and pop it into a MAC palette or a Z palette, they’re much easier to store like this and work out around ?2 cheaper. My favourites at the moment are Arena, Sable, Antiqued and Orange.
Nivea Aftershave Balm
Nikkie Tutorials made this famous by using it as a makeup primer and the beauty world followed suit. This is by far one of the best primers I’ve ever tried. It hands down stands up to a lot of the really expensive primers out there and really helps stick foundation to your face. My makeup does not budge when I wear this underneath. What’s even better is this costs less than ?7 for a 100ml bottle! I can’t see myself running out of this any time soon (I have it hidden from James) but when I do I know I’ll be heading straight out to buy more.
Adidas Originals Superstar
I had a pair of these when I was in school and I wore them to death! James picked me up a new pair for my birthday and I haven’t stopped wearing them. These runners are so comfy and look so good thrown on with ripped skinnies and a simple tee. When I’m buying new shoes I always check the kids section before buying as most kids shoes do up to a UK size 5.5 and I’m a 5. Instead of paying the usual ?90 for the women’s version of this shoe, I sent James to the kids section in JD Sports where he picked these up for just ?65! I’m so happy I have a pair of these, I’m already planning different outfits to wear them with!
Plant Nanny App
Drinking enough water is something I’m really bad at. I drink quite a few cups of tea everyday but not enough to keep me fully hydrated. I’ve downloaded so many apps before for health and fitness but when it comes to getting me to drink enough, Plant Nanny is the only one that works. Once you download the app you enter your weight and activity level for it to calculate how much water you should be drinking every day. You then choose a plant and start watering it. Basically the plant is you so whenever you have a drink, you also give your plant a drink. This is so easy to do as you can save your favourite cups/glasses with the amount of mls in them. Your plant will become fully grown if your drinking enough, then you can move it to the garden and plant some more. If your not drinking enough it will prompt you that it is going to die. I downloaded this about 2 months ago and honestly its one of the best apps I have, I’ve found myself drinking so much more and my skin is thanking me for it!
I had such a great month, it was so nice to get away for a week with James and spend some time together. We also got to spend some time with my family which was lovely. I also really enjoyed trying out some new products and falling in love with old ones again. Let me know in the comments below what you’ve been loving over the past few weeks or anything I’ve mentioned that your excited to try!
