One of my favourite things about Christmas is having the excuse to have cosy evenings on the couch with a cup of tea in hand and a movie on the TV.
With most people having up to two weeks off over Christmas, it’s the perfect time to chill out with family and put on a Christmas movie.
There are so many classics out there but I have my firm favourites that I rewatch over and over every year. Check out my top 10 below and let me know if you’ll be watching these during your Christmas break.
1. Home Alone
This is the ultimate Christmas movie, I’ve already watched this twice so far!
When young Kevin gets left behind whilst his family go on holiday to France, he begins to realise experiences aren’t that great when you don’t have a family to share them with.
2. Christmas With The Kranks
Christmas can be an extremely stressful time of year for many of us. It’s not hard to see why The Kranks decide to throw in the towel and head abroad for the holiday season.
As expected things don’t go as planned and The Kranks are left rushing to get ready for a Christmas Day at home.
3. Love Actually
Never mind Christmas, this is one of my favourite movies of all time.
The stories of strangers intertwine during the festive season with their actions inadvertently effecting the lives of others.
If you don’t get choked up watching Love Actually I would have to seriously question if you have a heart at all!
4. Harry Potter
The Harry Potter series is brilliant to watch no matter what time of year.
I can’t wait to have a day off during my holidays to spend on the couch in Harry Potter pyjamas whilst watching the eight movie marathon.
5. Bridget Jones Diary
Colin Firth epitomises the cheesiness of Christmas jumpers in this hilarious movie.
An absolute must watch at Christmas, I don’t know a single person that has been able to watch this movie without laughing.
Another hilarious movie to watch at Christmas, featuring a grown Will Ferrell dressed as an elf.
Buddy the elf’s excitement about Christmas along with his unyielding belief in seeing the good in everything makes for a true feel good movie.
7. The Santa Clause
I’ve loved this movie since I was a kid and can’t think of a Christmas that I haven’t sat and watched this.
The true magic of Christmas comes alive in this movie and will have you wishing to be a child again by the end of it.
8. The Chronicles of Narnia: The Lion, The Witch and The Wardrobe
When the Pevensies discover Narnia and realise it is under The White Witch’s curse they set out to save the land. Father Christmas’ appearance in the film shows a turning point for the White Witch’s reign and proves that help is at hand if you believe.
This is such a feel good movie which really showcases that sometimes believing in something is enough.
Frozen has to be one of the best films Disney has released in years. A hit with adults and children alike, it is hard not to love the adorable tale of Anna, Elsa and Olaf.
I know at this stage most people are fed up with Let It Go but I still can’t get enough of it!
10. Miracle on 34th Street
This adorable movie features one of my favourite childhood actors, Mara Wilson, who played the iconic Matilda.
Young Susan doesn’t believe in the spirit of Christmas but after meeting Santa in Macy’s, she realises there may be something to believe in after all.
